Services and volunteers

A ready team for every service.

See every position across your service times, ask the right people to serve, and watch their answers come in from their phones. Open spots show up while there’s still time to fill them.

A small 25-key keyboard on the table. Above it floats a Services card for this Sunday: Sunday worship at 9:00 AM in the Sanctuary, 3 open seats and 3 replies waiting. The Greeter position has 3 of 4: Jamal S. confirmed, Ana P. and Derek A. waiting, and one open seat. In front, a phone shows the Cedar Hill church app's Home for Derek: You're asked to serve, Greeter, this Sunday at 9:00 AM in the Sanctuary with Jamal Shah, with Accept and Can't make it buttons.

Upcoming services

Every gap, before Sunday.

Each service time is a column, and each position a row of seats: a face with its answer, or an open seat. Every time says how many seats are open and how many answers are still waiting.

Every service time
Sunday at 9:00 and 11:00, Wednesday night prayer: each start time is a column, with its own positions and their seats.
Every campus
Switch campus and the services, the positions and the people who can serve there all follow.
Upcoming
Every service day in the next eight weeks, with the same seats, so a gap can be filled from the same page it shows on.

Teams and positions

Schedule from the people already on the team.

Press an open seat and the people tagged for that team come first, from that service’s campus. Filling a spot takes a minute, not a string of texts.

  • Each position shows the seats it needs, from greeters to sound
  • Press an open seat and the people tagged for that team come first
  • Anyone you ask shows as waiting until they answer
  • Asked the wrong person? Undo it right away
The Greeter position for Sunday, September 27 at 9:00 AM, 3 of 4: Marcus A. and Ana R. confirmed, Jamal S. waiting, and an open seat. Pressing the open seat opened Who could serve as Greeter: 3 on the Greeter team are free, with a Search everyone field and capsules for Daniel Carter, Ana Palmer and Derek Alvarez of the Greeter team, then Owen Okafor, Marcus Shah and Chloe Palmer, not on the team yet. On the table below lies a clipboard with the team's printed greeter roster, names down the side and handwritten ticks and question marks.

The Church app

Volunteers answer from their phones.

Serving requests wait in the Serving section of your church’s app. A volunteer taps Accept or Decline, and the position updates right away.

  • Accept or Decline with one tap
  • Their schedule lists every date they’ve said yes to
  • Can’t serve hands the spot back, and it shows as open again
A phone showing the Cedar Hill member app Home as Derek Alvarez sees it: Hi, Derek, Sunday worship at 9:00 AM, a request to serve as Greeter this Sunday, and Coming up: the Fall festival and the Young adults group. Beside it float two cards from the app's Events tab: Serve day, Tuesday at 8:30 AM at Riverside Park, with a Register button; and after registering, You're going to Serve day, with Can't go.

Replies and history

Every answer, on the record.

Each yes and each no lands on the volunteer’s People timeline, next to the rest of their story with your church. The next leader who schedules them can see it.

  • Confirmed, waiting and declined, side by side on each position
  • Each reply is saved to the volunteer’s timeline
  • Each service time counts who hasn’t answered yet, so you know who to follow up with
Derek Alvarez's page in People, a regular attender from Grand Rapids, with his story newest first: on September 25 he said yes to serving in the church app, as Greeter at Sunday worship on Sunday, October 4 at 9:00 AM; on September 23 Sydney Carter noted he asked about the young adults group; on September 13 he attended the men's breakfast. On the table are a vocal microphone on a desk stand and an in-ear monitor pack with its earphones.
