People

One record for every person.

Households, first visits, calls, groups and serving all live on one record, so the people caring for someone see the whole story their role allows.

The Alvarez family as Joined keeps it, floating above a pale oak side table: 5 people, 1 child, here today; Derek Alvarez, Mei Alvarez and Marcus Alvarez, regular attenders; a second Marcus Alvarez, visitor; Mateo Alvarez, Pre-K; and Add to family. Beside it, Derek's story: a note Sep 23, asked about the young adults group, by Sydney Carter; attended the Men's breakfast Sep 13; attended the Youth lock-in Sep 5. On the table stand Mateo's framed crayon drawing of his family and the household's mail, with a welcome letter from Cedar Hill Church on top.

Households

Families stay together.

Parents and children share one household, and each has a record of their own. When Mateo is checked in on Sunday, the allergy his parents keep up to date is right there on the roster.

  • See adults and children together in one household
  • Children keep their grade and allergies on their own record
  • Parents update their children’s details in the church app
  • Kids check-in shows each child’s allergies from their record
The pickup check in Joined: Check out Mateo Alvarez. Read the pickup code on the family's tag; it has to match the label on the child. 7KP4 is typed in the pickup code field, with Cancel and Check out buttons. In front, the parent's printed pickup tag reading 7KP4 rests on a set of car keys.

Stages and timeline

From first visit to member, it’s all on one record.

Each person moves from Visitor to Regular attender to Member. Visits, calls, notes, serving and event sign-ups collect on one timeline beside their groups and household, so whoever reaches out next knows what was said last.

  • Log a call, text, email, visit or note in a few clicks
  • Event registrations and check-ins appear on their own
  • Views for Visitors, Members and anyone not seen in 30 days
  • Gifts appear only for roles that include giving
Mei Alvarez's record in Joined. One card shows her next step, no one is following up with Mei yet, with Assign a follow-up, and her story: attended the Youth lock-in Sep 5, logged by Emerson Davis; an online gift of $25 to the Missions fund from Sunday offering Aug 31, logged by Sydney Carter; and Show all 7. Beside it, Across Cedar Hill: Calendar, going to Membership class and Serve day; Groups, in Young adults; Services, on the Hospitality team, not scheduled in the next two weeks, each beside its product's object. A closed tan notebook with a green pen resting on it sits below.

Follow-ups

Every guest gets a next step, and a name beside it.

Assign a follow-up to someone on your team with a due date. Guests move from New to Contacted to Connected, and no one wonders who was supposed to call.

  • Assign a follow-up to one person or a whole list at once
  • Give each person an owner on your staff
  • Check off open follow-ups right from their record
A paper connect card reading "Glad you're here!" with Maria Lopez written on the name line and two boxes checked, I'd like to join a group and Tell me about kids ministry, a pen resting on it and a caramel-glazed mug of coffee beside it. Above floats the People follow-ups list for the Downtown campus, each follow-up on a track from New guests to Contacted, Connected and Done: Call Maria Lopez, with You, a new guest, overdue; Welcome note to the Okafor family, Owen Okafor with Jordan Kim, contacted, due today; and Invite the Alvarez family to lunch, Marcus Alvarez with Sydney Carter, connected, due Sep 29.

Import and duplicates

Bring your list. Leave the duplicates behind.

Import a spreadsheet and nothing is saved until you say so. Joined flags records that share a phone, an email, or a name and city, and you decide what to keep.

  • Map your spreadsheet’s columns and review each row first
  • Undo an import from its history if something looks wrong
  • Mark two records as different people and they stay apart
How switching works
A welcome-desk sign-in sheet on a clipboard, with Maria A., Daniel Alvarez, Grace Kim, the Nguyens and Samuel Reed written in by hand, and a pen beside it. Above float two cards from Joined. Possible duplicates: same email, same name and city, two records for Owen Okafor, owen.okafor@example.com, one added Aug 29 from an event and one added Sep 18 from a connect card, with Review and merge and They're different people. Import finished: 38 added, 6 updated, 0 left as they were, 2 couldn't be imported, with Undo this import.
